First Step [Video; public]
Hello? Hello, yes.
[The dog comes into focus at an odd angle - the communicator is on the floor, between her forepaws as she peers down over it. Apparently satisfied that it's working, she yips in delight, rushing out of view in a close-up whirl of paws and tail and glimpses of an old timber ceiling as she spins in a circle. Then her face reappears, tongue hanging out slightly from her canine grin.]
Hello! I'm the Disreputable Dog. Or the Disreputable Bitch, if you want to be technical. Who wants to go for a walk?

Hello! I'm the Disreputable Dog. Or the Disreputable Bitch, if you want to be technical. Who wants to go for a walk?

Kara likes dogs.
Kara is pleased by this development. ]
I could go for a walk with you, if you don't mind.

Where would you like to walk? I'm new here myself, so I haven't seen a lot of the ship.

[And the Dog will meet her in the hallway, sitting on her haunches, tail wagging, no matter how fast Kara is. The Dog has a few tricks of her own.]

Hello again! I'm sorry I didn't say before. My name is Kara Zor-el.

[She winds in a circle around Kara once, sniffing her knees.]
You smell like stars!
spam;
That must be because of the yellow sun. [ She's just glad to hear she doesn't smell like kyrptonite or death. ]
spam;
Do you spend a lot of time with the sun?
[Half joking, half earnest - because here, who knows?]
spam;
[ And in the time her pod spent circling the sun, she's soaked up a whole lot of solar radiation. ]

[It's not awed, exactly - but delighted, and satisfied. A person who drinks light like a forest. It's different.]
spam;
Where would you like to walk first?
spam;
[She spins in a circle, around and around twice, seems to decide at random.]
This way!

I hope it's not rude to ask, but what brings you here? I don't know what sort of things a dog might make a deal for.

When I was young, I did something...desperate. And it was the right thing, I believe that. A great deal of good came of it. But down the line it put a people in harm's way who would have fared better otherwise. I'm here for them.
[It's a very deliberate vagueness, the kind that discourages more questions, but gently, without her usual evasiveness. It's a very long story, with more of her heartsblood in it than she cares to spill just now.]

[ She wasn't sure what she was expecting. It just sounds so human. But, as she said, she didn't know much about the psyche of a dog. Maybe they were more like humans than she thought. ]
That sounds like a very good reason.

Rao, I am too, in a way.

He means well, but sometimes you just need space.

Everyone needs to stretch their legs once in a while.
spam;
Dogs more often than others, I would think, with your attitude towards walks.

[ She glances around as though suddenly remembering that they're moving. ]
Are we going anywhere in particular? We'll be at the stairs in a moment.
